Compared to the Comeup
Carbon 6.2HP vs Comeup 5hp (this would need to be verified)
Carbon 215:1 gear ratio to 225:1 gear ratios (both are three stage)
Both are waterproof.
Construction: Carbon: Zinc Electroplated vs Comeup Alumiuim die cast housings with steel drum
Carbon: Made in AU vs Comeup made in USA

I can't see if that is an older model or different line but you didn't mention the brushless motor nor the 15K and 20K models.

These are both newer models and neither is brushless. I was only comparing 12-12.5k models since the AEV is designed for the 12.5k comeup winch and your carbon winch link also refers to a 12k winch.

I always thought the comeup winch was China made not US made. Either way I'm jealous of any of you that have one installed. I'm still trying to justify 2 to 4k for one and installed.

You are almost correct. The company is based in Taiwan. I had zero justification for the install; there was a space in the front bumper for a winch, had one installed for no reason at all. Now that I have it, and a bunch of additional recovery gear, I just may use it to rescue someone or myself for the matter :)

Like other tools it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...

My "Have Its" far exceed my need its :ROFLMAO:

Argument here is: life is short, make the best of it, there are no medals for frugality.

I'm a Superwinch fan... Love thier products... I've run their tiger shark line on 3 jeeps and 2 2500HDs. They have never failed me in the NH / Maine winter trails in 40" snow or in Moab Utah.

I used a 8K once on a winter trip for almost 8 hours straight due to the 40" snow... while I was also dragging a Jeep GC behind me because his winch failed

Thanks for the info I have not had a winch in about 30 years and real world experience carries a lot of weight with me.

I am still going to investigate the carbon because of its 48V brushless motor, faster speed and the 15K that fits almost in the space of a 12K

Just keep in mind that faster speed is relative. You're not going to notice a significant difference when you're winching a full size truck out. If it takes an extra 2 minutes because of a slower speed it's essentially a negligible time difference. If you were in competition that would be one thing and that is a totally different class of winch.
