Well, got to admit that I am pretty bummed at the moment. Just over 1,100 miles and its back at the dealer for a check engine. This is TWICE now. Took it in at 500 miles for a check engine, app said it was an Emissions System issue. Dealer said GM issued a bulletin that if the truck has less than 1,500 miles, to just clear code and give it back to the owner. Happened again a few days ago…same Emissions System error on the GMC app…so back in for service again. Dealer is now doing testing with GM engineers, so I wont have my truck back anytime soon.

When do I initiate the lemon law? I’m in Nevada and this just seems like total bullshit that a $90k truck breaks in the first 1,000 miles.

I LOVE the truck…but this doesn’t bode well for long term reliability.

Sorry to hear this. See attached.

That really sucks. Is it the "service emissions system" warning? Does the warning code put your truck into limp mode?

It does not go into limp mode. Light comes on, app tells me the emissions system has an issue, but luckily no limp mode.

That's good! Progressive limp mode basically makes your truck unusable. It did mine.

I’m not saying I know what’s wrong with your truck. But when I bought my truck a 2024 Chevy 3500 brand new dually was there and they were having emissions issues with it. Kept throwing codes etc. I don’t know which ones. Ended up being bad welds on the exhaust system.

I had a 21 suburban and literally was delivered to my house I jumped in it and it had a million codes. It took two visits to the shop, but afterwards was perfect for 50k miles.

Hopefully something simple.

Love the positive perspective…thanks for sharing your experiences…i am holding on to hope!

*UPDATE* - this is going to be a very anti-climatic update, but I’ll share anyway. After the dealership kept the truck for a week…the resolution…AGAIN…GM recommended to “clear the code and give it back to the owner.” They seem to think this is all part of the “break in period”. I would just call it the “break period.” I am happy to have the truck back, finally. However this is definitely of concern for me. We go on a lot of long road trips, and knowing that there is a potential emissions issue just around the corner is quite unsettling. Though it has not gone into limp mode on either occasion, thankfully, there is still a fear that something more significant can occur at any moment…just hope I’m not far from help if/when it does.
Still loving the truck…heading on the road this afternoon where I’ll be putting close to 200 miles on it…fingers crossed.

Gosh...at the risk of being negative - throwing codes during a break-in period is most definitely NOT normal!! Keep that Lemon Law guide handy.

*UPDATE*
So I thought I was in the clear. I even received a software update to resolve an issue where it resolved an “erroneous check engine light warning”. Drove another 2000 miles…all great…in the clear…then BAMMMM, another check engine. Another Emissions System fault. WTF, GMC? This is totally unacceptable. I will be going in for service for the THIRD time now in a few weeks and will be notifying the dealership that I plan on initiating the Lemon Law process. $90k for this? No way, unacceptable. Toyota, here I come.

My first one was in 7 times in less than 1000 miles and then bought back.

The new one was in 3 times for the same thing! Knock wood my second one has now gone over 7000 miles since the ecm recalibration fix.

Emissions problems is why I never bought another new diesel after owning a 2016 Duramax LML and had emissions issues early on with it. I deleted the truck at year 4 leaving warranty time on the table. The truck never gave me anymore problems with the emissions junk gone. Truck ran great, had good mpg mileage and was strong as an ox. When I went shopping for a new 1/2 ton truck jan 2023 I would not even look at the baby duramax diesel powered trucks knowing what I know about new diesels. I know deleting a newer LP5 duramax today is very costly and I personally would never own one stock.
