I just finished installing the RT3 mount and wiring for my BOSS 9'2" V-Plow on my 2024 AT4HD. Pretty straight forward install, with the exception one thing. With the snowplow prep package GM included part number 84731643 that needs to be installed by the dealer free of charge. Here is the URL to the bulletin. https://www.gmupfitter.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/UI-Bulletin-161b.pdf . I have not had this installed yet as my dealer was giving me some push back on doing the work at no charge, even though the bulletin says they will.

So far I have not had the blank screen issue the harness is supposed to fix. But I have not run it under load, just in dry/no snow conditions. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue, or done the install themselves.

Thanks

Do you have any pictures of the front of your mount. Not happy with how they did mine. Left too much off the front

Could you show a side shoot of that mount or show a tape measure from ground to the bottom of the plow miunt hooks?

I think I am going to have the torsion bars turned up raise it an inch and lower the mount an inch and it should clear and give me 14.5 to the center of the hole.

Here are a few pictures of my install. I included the pics of the power module that I installed, plus were I mounted the solenoid. Power came from the fuse box under the hood. I'll post the fuse number soon, I don't have the truck with me now. I did not need to raise my torsion bars. It was 10.5" to the top of the hook which was perfect. I also did not need to cut into the bumper at all. I just removed the two lower trim pieces.

This is their install. Not as nice as yours.

Going to talk to the GM dealer. Still no power to the controller and they put that harness on themselves. I wonder if it is a programming issue? This whole deal has been a nightmare. The Boss installer basically told me there is nothing else they can do?

I see you are pretty local to me. I'm in Doniphan. Would you pm me the company that installed it, please, if you don't want to drop the name here? If I don't do it myself, I was leaning towards Matt Friend trucking equipment in Hastings.

Looks like you have the older version harness, which should still work. Was it taken off your old truck? I would not be very happy with that install either. Seem like they did not put much effort into doing it right.

Do you see where they were trying to pull power for the controller? The only spot I could find was in the fuse box under the hood. Fuse #40. See the pics on the post for the location. I confirmed this with BOSS. I used these fuse taps in the fuse box. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QJHXRN6?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
Makes getting power very easy.

Went and connected the truck to my plow and the power light on the controller came on. Went to put it on the truck and it wouldn’t power the lift motor in the float position. Turned the headlights to manual and it went out completely, and could not get power to it again. Just doesn’t make any sense. Talked to the GM dealership and they told me there nothing they would be able to check that it has to do with wiring of the plow and nothing to do with the truck. Just crazy that nobody can figure this out

I have a half ton AT4, so I went with the Western half ton V plow. They had to remove my red recovery hooks on the frame to mount it, but it works really well. I don't have a Boss plow, but all I can say is that the person who installed yours, shouldn't be allowed to work on anything electrical. In order to straighten that out, your best bet is to pull that mess right back out, and start over. I believe you can get the schematic's from the plow manufacturer for the wiring. The hardest part of the install is literally the headlight module, the rest is pretty generic basic power and ground stuff, with the wire feeding the controller inside the cab.

They found a bad ground and now everything is working. They just called and said to make sure when I swing by to pay the invoice to have them load the skid plate up in my truck? Said they had to take it off to put the mount on. They said that Boss said you have to do this for the install. Did you remove yours?

Awesome. Glad you got it working. Both skid plates needed to come off to install. But, both should go back on. The rear metal skid plat that covers the oil pan goes back on after you drill the bolt holes in the cross member. The rear mount pieces go over the metal skid plate. The front plastic skid plate needs to be trimmed and then can be installed again. I’ll take a picture under my truck and post it for you.
