BDS 4” lift on AT4X

My dang luck! I literally JUST bought an AT4 because I couldn’t find anything bigger than a leveling kit. I was about to sign on a new AT4X.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up that BDS has a 4” lift that uses the existing dssv shocks and all that. I saw that someone installed it on their Silverado zr2. I guess they aren’t really marketing it but it does exist if anyone’s interested. BDS-1829H

Dang, that is literally the amount of lift I want. I have the RC 1.5" front level with the RC 3.5" UCA's. But would prefer 4" (to go with the 2" over regular Sierra) BDS lift. But not gonna change it all out now.

Thanks for the heads up!

From what the forum comments said, it sounds like you have to call bds and order it directly. Now they are saying that there’s a 6” also. They made a point to say a few times that bds isn’t advertising it yet. On the Silverado zr2 forum you can check it out.

gotcha makes sense
im not happy with the 1.5 leveling kit with UCA from rough country. had to remake the lower strut spacers. had to remove bump stops. one thing after another.

I haven't had any issues with my RC 1.5" + 3.5" UCA's on my 23 AT4X yet (no jinx). I would prefer a 4" lift, but that would make GM much more likely to void the factory warranty. I have had it in twice now to GM dealerships (first free oil change/tire rotation at 7500 miles, and 2nd when my electronics were bricked a couple weeks back), at two different dealerships, and neither mentioned the front level. I don't think they even noticed TBH. But 4" they would notice for sure IMHO.

Still, my truck would look better with a 4" lift vs 1.5" front level (plus now airlift airbags in the back which give a little rear lift even when barely inflated). I am just not willing to risk not having a factory warranty, and even a front end level puts that in jeapordy, even though it shouldn't. Not that I would expect them to cover the front suspension after being levelled, but they like to blanket-void warranties - gets them out of a lot of possible down the line warranty work. It's all about $ for these companies, especially these days more than in the past.

I agree, 4 in lift is the perfect amount of lift and I also agree that warranty could be a issue- so much I even bought my exhaust thru GM and had them put it on so the truck and exhaust are still covered. My big question tho is tires, given the shape of GMC front wheel wells, add a 4 in lift I would bet that 37’s will still prolly rub. If that is the case- still limited to a 35, no tire gain at all. Been a while since I bought a BDS product, but last time I did even a sticker was expensive. 😂

Yes, 4" lift is about perfect IMO. Good idea sticking with an exhaust bought from and installed by GM. The wheel wells are the issue with GM vehicles and tires size. Boxy wheel wells keeps larger tires from fitting - has been that way for a long time. I also think 37's would rub with a 4" lift. I personally wouldn't want 37's, but some would. I've got 34's (295/60 R20's) on 20x10 -13 offset wheels on now, and have had to do quite a bit of trimming. I do have the factory AT4X mudflaps on, but the bottoms of those have needed to be dremeled quite a bit. In fact, the left one needs a little more trimming - not tough to do, and not really noticeable without looking closely.

I had a BDS 6.5" lift on a 2014 Sierra Z71. Which would be comparable to a 4.5" lift on an AT4 or AT4X. I had 35" tires on negative offset 20x10 wheels and don't remember having to do any trimming. That truck looked really nice. It barely fit in my 7' garage door, but it did fit. I know my 23 AT4X would look better with a 4" lift, which would be almost equivalent to the 6.5" lift on my 2014 Sierra. And I liked the BDS lift, thought it was high quality. I did go through 3 sets of ball joints, which were "lifetime warranty" ball joints by BDS. After the 3rd replacement, BDS said they were done replacing them. The road up to my house here in MT is very rough, about 2 miles of rough mountain road. Plus even city streets here in MT are full of huge potholes. It is a rough environment on front suspension. But I like BDS and if had my choice, would choose them again if they made a kit that made sense for my truck.

So I spoke to BDS today, they do have it, its a 4" additional, which to me is overkill for my use. 4" total would be perfect, with what i imagine would be just the right amount of space and clearance for a proper set of 35s.
2260 was what the coated me and said it still retains the DDSV shocks.

To each his own but-WOW, 2260 without tax and install to run a tire that is .7 inch taller.
I run Toyo MT’s on a stock AT4x. 285/70/18 site says 34.1 tall. 35/12.50/18 is 34.8
I don’t wanna do the math on what that is per .1 of inch🤔😂😂😂😂

It really makes no sense. I'm a Toyota fan boy, had a trail boss for work before the AT4X I bought now. Not sure I understand why you would want to add a 4" lift on top of the factory 2. If your doing it, rip out what is there and do a proper set up.

A 4" lift, that utilizes coils and not spacers would be ideal for these trucks. fit 35s and have room for some flex. I worry with the 2" spacer even on top of the factory 2" a 35 on any actual terrain is going to rip these fenders apart. Hopefully ADD releases their bumpers for these soon and it is a high clearance option.

I spoke to to BDS today regarding their 4" lift kit. Price is $2200. The way it was explained to me is that it would use the factory setup with the Multimatic DSSV. He said there are not any shocks included in the kit as it uses original factory setup. It nets a 4" lift but ends up being a 6" lift. Any thoughts or input? I am def considering going with this kit.

I think 4" (on top of the stock 2") is about right. Maybe a tad tall, but it would look great IMO.

My current 2023 AT4X has 1.5" RC front level + 3.5" RC UCA's. In the rear, I now have airlift 500 airbags with the airlift mini compressor system to remote adjust between zero and 100 psi. I keep it at 7 psi for normal driving, pump it up to 12 psi when pulling my trailer. The airlift airbag system gives some extra rear end lift, even at only 7 psi. At 12 psi there is more lift. Haven't gone higher than 12 psi, but I am sure it would lift it some more. I like a little rake back to front, so I like the look a little better with the airlift airbags.

All that being said, I would like a little more lift overall. So I think 4" would look good. I will post a pick of my truck currently (it was a little dirty but that is usually the case here in Montana). And I will post a pic of my 2014 GMC Sierra Z71 that had the 6.5" BDS lift for comparison. The 2014 I had looked real sharp. Can't really say my 2023 AT4X is a huge upgrade looks wise IMO. But you can be the judge from the following pics.
