How did you solve it?

I would put a screwdriver or something in there to wedge it to make sure its those vents.

I already know its the vents, fine GM design for 80k truck ...... SUCK !!

I get your frustration. I was trying to be helpful. I just had my rear heated seats fixed. They never worked from factory. Out of warranty cost me $700. I still love my truck but understand your dislike for yours.
