How are you all getting the old emblems off? Heat gun and pry them off or fishing line? What is your preferred method of removing the old glue. How do you line up the new emblem to make sure its level and straight etc.? I have debadged a couple of vehicles, just never a brand new truck and never put emblems back on. Thanks!

Fishing line, then a detail decal removal wheel. Took me 4 min to remove the sierra emblem off my tailgate.

This is the only way to go. The “eraser wheel” makes short work of it. I bought the 3M version. The first emblem left thick patches of adhesive behind, so I spent ten minutes trying to remove the adhesive with “Goo Gone” and a plastic razor blade. It was very slow going, so I decided to use the wheel even though there was still a LOT of adhesive left. Two minutes later it was all gone. It’s super easy. After the adhesive was gone, I blew all the eraser dust off, wiped the area with Goo Gone, then cleaned the area with alcohol to prep for the new emblems.

How sticky are the new emblems when you go to put them on? If you get them cockeyed a little, are you screwed or do you have a little wiggle room? Are you putting them on one at a time or does it come on a template you set all at once?

They are very sticky, you have 1 shot to get it right.

Some of the emblems have a foam template, some do not. The GMC logo does not. The Sierra logo, the AT4HD and Denali logos all have templates. The AT4 logo for the tailgate and 1500 trucks does not have a template.

Step one: tape the existing area with blue painters tape to allow for exact replacement.

Step two: braided fishing line to remove existing emblems.

Step three: 3m adhesive remover or 3m wheel (or a combination of both) to remove the adhesive.

Step four: clean with rubbing alcohol

Step five: apply new emblems using the tape as a line up guide.

Step six: enjoy the better look.

Until you notice one letter is 3mm off and it drives you ABSOLUTELY crazy, even though no one else notices it lol. Back online, a week later your redoing it all over lol.

I’m as OCD as it comes…trust me. For the tailgate GMC you can add angled tape lines too to make it work. Don’t overthink it.
