At4X Apple Car Play

I've had that happen. It hasn't been often enough to really bother me. But every once in awhile, I'll get some sort of notification on my phone and CarPlay take over the audio. The radio won't resume unless I change stations. I've had minor (at least) bluetooth issues with every vehicle I've owned since bluetooth became a thing, and my AT4X connectivity has been pretty good by comparison. So it's not that bad.

I came here tonight to actually start a new thread about this but was pleasantly surprised to see your post. I'm not sure this is the exact same issue, but they seem related. When i first got my refresh and for the past 9 months, when i would get in the truck (every time) no matter which source I am using for sound (fm/am/apple car play) it would stop playing sound twice in a row for about 3 seconds each time. And now as of the last week or so it will stop 4 or 5 times. No update seems to have come through to cause this so i'm wondering if this issue is getting worse for anyone else?

The CarPlay integration is making the entire infotainment system more buggy everyday for me . It take about 10 minutes of driving before CarPlay will stop cutting in and allow Sirius to play . I can tell CarPlay is cutting in because the AC Fan will turn down just like it does when I am getting a call.

I tried safe mode reset today and that did nothing . I will try removing fuse 11 tomorrow and see if that helps .

Perhaps not coincidentally I also noticed my rear view mirror screen flash yellow and then turn off for a few seconds and then come back on .

The system was flawless for first 4 months I had it but I am getting more and more concerned that things are going downhill .

What is the procedure for “safe mode reset”? I’ve been unable so far to figure out any button press hold or combination to make the infotainment restart.

Settings
System
Reset Options
Safe Mode
What does safe mode do? I am tired of the infotainment issues went to the dealership twice even after factory resetting it twice. All they did was put the install the same update both times update QIHM22B-00708. I am using only Bluetooth to connect and it cuts out the music, my wife's 2017 Hyundai infotainment center works better than this crap.

My system does the exact same thing, but my AC fan stays turned down... Even when on Auto and the only fix is to hit the + or - on the AC and press Auto again to get it running properly. Was also planning on trying to reset the infotainment system but sounds like that is not a fix.

Seems like either the latest iOS update may have caused this issue as i've had the truck over a year now and it's a recent thing. I will try disabling CarPlay and use only Bluetooth to see if that fixes it.

From day one I been having issues with carplay then switch to just bluetooth and still having issues it skipping or not playing sound and then I have to turn off the sound and turn it back on to play...its pathetic that my 2017 Tundra never had a issue with bluetooth but a 23 AT4 has issues.

Reboot your phone and see if that helps. It stops the stuttering or stopping on my Android phone (Galaxy S22 Ultra). I have found the longer it goes between reboots, the worse the stuttering/stopping of music gets.

I can't vouch for anything Apple. Don't and won't use apple products, personally.

EDIT: what I am saying is that it may not be the infotainment system causing the issue. BT stuttering also happened on my 2020 AT4, and a phone reboot seemed to fix the issue.

has anyone figured out a way to force it to use wired (usb c) car play vs. wireless?

I just plug it in via USB C and it overrides wireless.
Is there some way of verifying that it’s overriding the wireless?

Because mine does the cut out problem whether I have it plugged in or not, that’s why I’m skeptical that car play is still going over Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and it’s just charging via cable.
