AT4 Performance Exhaust Upgrade Confusion

Hello, my 2024 custom Yukon has been accepted for assembly (been waiting 18months, but that's another story). I want to add the performance exhaust system to the truck, but there are two different options on the build my Yukon webpage at 2 different price points.

Under "mechanical options", there is a $2,795 cat-back performance exhaust upgrade. But then, under "performance upgrades" there is a $2,495 option that says it's made by BORLA.

What is the difference? Which one should I get? Attaching pictures for reference.

I am not sure I trust GMC engineers to make a Cat-Back system?

You are correct. The first one is from GMC and the other is from Borla. If you scroll down to the bottom of the website I attached it says in the description "Designed and validated by GMC Performance engineers."

gm does it all. And from the complaints I'm reading here, gm should farm more stuff out to individual experts!

I'm guessing GM could make a louder exhaust than have to field complaints about the law. I've got a good friend who is retiring after a lifetime of being an auto mechanic. It's his opinion most of those aftermarket exhausts, if not all will not last as long as an OEM. I have never put one on either. I certainly do like a louder exhaust and if I was getting the 1500AT4 I would definitely get the two mode exhaust option.

Nevermind... I see that is a factory option on the 2024. Damn. I missed it by 1 model year. Active exhaust would be perfect on this truck.

It is a pretty nice option. It's a night and day sound difference on cold starts.

I test drove a 24 1500 AT4X with dual mode exhaust. Loved it. Can only get to loud exhaust by selecting sport mode. Not nearly as good sounding as my Jeep 392 but pretty good.

FYI - according to the Borla tech I spoke to, the “Borla” GM option is specially made for GM but it is not your typical Borla build. This is why there is no sound clip on the Borla website for that exhaust. Use that as you see fit…

Hello all, I think I can provide some color here ---

It is my understanding that the cat back performance exhaust system (I believe listed in exterior options?) that you get on the order site is a white labeled GM option designed by Corsa, generally very mild in tone/volume. The upgrade one is Borla branded and designed by Borla (of course) and I believe an accessory or in the accessory section. Don't quote me on that. On the GM SUV's all options I've heard are mild in tone/volume. I have the Borla OEM accessory exhaust on my 2020 Escalade. It's mild. Basically like the old GM SUV's (2007 gen escalades and the gen prior) where you can actually hear the OEM exhaust at idle showing it's definitely a V8 under the hood........that volume. My buddy has a 2022 Yukon Denali with the 6.2L that "cat back performance exhaust" and it's even quieter than my Escalade accessory Borla in comparison.

So confusing. Wish they explained it better. Latest I heard, is the GM marketed performance exhaust gives a horsepower boost, while the Borla option in the accessories section is sound only. Now, what HP boost and what sound boost these options are, who knows.
