New here but owner of 2024 1500 Denali 6.2. I am thinking of switching over to a Yukon as I don't use the truck bed that much and Yukon space would meet my needs. I go back and forth on these two models of Yukon Denali or AT4. Mostly highway driving, road trips, once in a while gravel. Some things I don't want such as rear screens as only my spouse and dog. Not sure I want super cruise as I like driving but do like the adaptive cruise control on the truck. When I price what I want the price still comes out in 80K range. I like the looks and 20" wheels better on the AT4.

If I get the air ride package would I be unhappy with the stiffer and slightly higher AT4 around town and on long road trips? My 6.2 has not come up for inspection yet but I have 14K trouble free miles. I want to stick with 6.2 and maybe take the risk. I hear some 2025s may still fail. So wondering if I preorder a 2026 that somehow that would mean more scrutiny by GM although the engine would be the same. Don't want to wait for the new first year generation engines in 2027. For those of you who have driven GM truck and various Yukon model experience I would like any advice you can give me. Getting ready to visit some dealer and look at models. Thanks

I work for a company where we have 8 vehicles split between Yukon xl AT4 and Denali’s. All of the driving is highway and NYC driving, crap roads, speed bumps, pot holes galore. We find the AT4 packages ride better/smoother than the Denali’s but i think it’s due to the bigger sidewalls on the AT4 tires.
We have about 25 guys that drive them and I would say 85 percent say the same thing. Just my opinion
Good luck
J

Thanks. Think one can get 20” on the Denali also. Also was told more sound deadening on the Denali which might be nice on road trips. Roads pretty good here. Will check these out tomorrow at dealer. Also told maybe could delete sunroof on 2026 preorder.

I had a 2017 Yukon Denali and it did everything that I wanted it to do. I was very pleased with everything about the vehicle. When my son graduated from college I gave it to him and I purchased a 2024 Yukon XL AT4. I bought the XL because we now have additional in-laws, and it is very likely that there will be grandchildren in the next two or three years. I'm sure there may be some "bells and whistles" that I did not get with the AT4, but since nothing comes to mind, I don't think I am missing anything. The new AT4 actually has a lot of new features that the 2017 Yukon Denali did not have.
When we had little kids, the rear seat video was a must, but now that they are out of college and only in the vehicle when in town, it is not necessary for us.
I agree with GibbyESS9 about the ride. I actually think the AT4 is a much smoother ride. I move a lot of people when they are in town, and I occasionally tow sailboats and flat bed trailers with farm equipment, and I actually like the towing with the AT4 better than the Denali. When I'm not hauling boats or farm equipment, I am highway driving across the great State of Texas to visit job sites and clients. I feel like I saved about 20k+ and got a more robust vehicle.
My son even likes the AT4 better than his Denali...

After driving the Denali it looks like that's the way I'm headed if the dealer can find my build somewhere or I preorder a '26. The one I drove did not have the air ride but by all accounts that is recommendation for mostly highway road trips. I guess we'll find out in time. Thnks

Well I have had a change of mind. I was leaning towards the Denali but I don't want a sunroof or rear entertainment. My dealer says he can't delete either on a '26 order. So, I'm back to the AT4 where I can get all I want including super drive, air ride and most of the other features on the AT4. Of course the '26 build sheet is not out yet but should see it this coming week as production begins Sept 8.

I have read the posts here and I still have lingering concern that the AT4 will not ride as nicely or be as quiet as the Denali. Most of my driving is highway, some road trips, some gravel, some city. I would plan to change out the tires to the Michelin LTX Ms/2 as they are quiet and handle most driving needs very well - have had them on past vehicles.

My dealer says I won't notice any difference between the AT4 and the Denali esp with air ride and we both prefer the looks over the Denali. The AT also seems to have the noise reducing glass but not sure if other sound deadening is same as the Denali. I have read differing opinions.

Sorry to beat this to death and everyone's comments are very helpful but there are some differences of opinion when I do searches. This is a much better forum to help me decide in the next week or so. Thanks.

The cabin is really quiet in the 25 Yukon.
You dont really notice how quiet it is, unless you enable the auto volume option for the speakers.
When i approach a signal light and the volume lowers, you can barely hear an emergency vehicle coming to the intersection.

I have the 25 at4 ultimate and it’s a dream.

Came from a 22 Yukon denali that was nice, but the at4 is worlds apart from it as far as ride.
I specifically chose the at4 because I wanted the best ride possible and I think it’s because of the bigger side walls. Also the ride height is not always higher, with the air ride you can make it lower (Denali height) or higher (at4 height) or extra high (4wd low) or extra low (enter or exit the vehicle). Though this feature might just be on the ultimate, not sure.

Ultimate has all bells and whistles you don’t want so I’d see if you can get the great ride in the at4.

I have20” wheels on mine and it’s silent through fast and slow driving, smooth and bumpy roads it just floats along.

All of these SUVs including the HD trucks ride like a Cadillac nowadays. AT4 or Denali it's just a package. Also if this is a long term purchase, I personally try to stay away from air suspensions, air rides, air socks anything air. That stuff is extremely expensive to fix and replace when it goes out. Especially if you live in and around the rust belts ..

Thnks. Kinda a moot point for now. My dealer can't seem to get an order submitted that I built on the '26 build page. Around the country most of the AT4 Yukons at dealers or in transit have the sunroof package. At this point I plan to trade every 3-4 years, if I ever get the vehicle.

I hate sunroofs too but unfortunately you can no longer order exactly what you want and don't want. They force useless packages on you when you only need one item with gimmicks most of us will never use. I wish I didn't have a sunroof on my at4 hd. Could also forego the stupid clearance lamps but I didn't want to drive to Commiefornia for a truck without them.. you have to eat the extra $$$ to get what you want in 2025.

FWIW, I just picked up an AT4 2021 with Air Ride, there are 4 settings 1 is standard height 2 is increased height and 3 is 4 Wheel Low and max height. the 4th option is exit height accessed by the center button and is a 1 time setting for parking or coming to a stop in traffic. The other access is on the infotainment center under vehicle and you can set it to lower automatically when you stop or put in park. When you put in Drive it returns to normal height after you go 5 mph and it levels on the fly. pretty nice feature. Also helps when you access a low garage door height. pretty cool if you ask me! YMMV

absolutely no difference in smooth ride vs a Denali, especially when you factor in the 20" wheels and 2" more side wall height making the 22" Denali ride a bit stiff and more road noise.

My '26 AT4 is extremely quiet on the interior. The air ride is also good. Smooth truck that eats nasty roads here in Hampton Roads... you know what I mean if youve ever been here. Not as wafty as my '10 Range Rover but more controlled Id say. Id argue the AT4 rides better than the Denali due to the OEM Goodyear Territory A/T tires. Lots of meat on them.

As for Super Cruise, I too didnt give a flying f about it... until I used it. Same thing for the onboard wifi. Its nice having devices no longer rely on hotspot and heating your phone up. You get 3 years free AT&T signal service and 8 years Super Cruise if yours has the technology package.
