AT4 carbon pro doesnt need rear wheel house liner

Hi gentleman, truck noob here with the AT4. I was inspecting my truck and realized there is no rear wheel well liner unlike the regular Sierras. I found one article that explains why the Carbon pro needs no wheel liner but it doesnt make much sense to me.

Can somebody explain this? Thank you

Traditional truck beds were metal, which needed protection from rocks and such, as well as protection from dirt, moisture and salt to avoid rust. Carbon fiber beds are tougher than the metal beds, nor will they rust like a traditional bed. That's a good thing.

I think the carbon pro model is really good. I would be interested to know how it drives and handles as opposed to the metal beds? Anybody driven both?
