Anyone running the amp power step extreme on their 2024 AT4 have any issues? I asked the dealer about them and they freaked out about them plugging into the drivers info center port and sent me this kind of bogus bulletin. Seems like they’d blame just about anything on the step…. Kind of scares me away from it but thought I’d see what other people say 😬

Thats a result of poor software design and programming with limited or no redundancy.

Had mine on since new, no issues. It's just highjacking a signal from that port, not power.

I ran them on my 2016 Canyon and on my 2019 Raptor. No issues at all. My 2024 Sierra Denali has the GM steps that move to the rear. I'm dechroming the truck and just taped off the chrome on the steps.

so I pulled the trigger on the amps. Had a local shop install them. Install was kind of choppy…. My main concern is they used the set of holes furthest to the rear instead of the set of holes a few inches forward.

When I went to pick it up I tested the steps and I could hear the steps hitting the frame underneath. I went back into the shop and told them the steps are hitting so they pulled it back in and I could hear their mini grinders grinding some of the chassis for the steps to clear. Not that big of a deal I guess….

My main complaint is the back end of the step sticks out about a 1/2 inch away from the truck and I notice it every time I look at it. Does everyone else’s sit like this or are yours butted up and tucked away and unnoticeable when looking down the side of the truck?

I’m wondering if the numb nuts that installed it would have used the right set of holes instead of rigging to make them close properly if the steps would fit tighter to the truck. Thank you for the help.

😲😡

I've installed AMP running boards on three different trucks. They always lined up with the front and rear of the cab. It sounds like they used the wrong holes. What did they grind....have you looked? Did they spray paint the ground area to protect it?

I know not everyone has the time, ability or the space to do installs, but this is why I like to do my own. Most shops are working on an hourly basis, and they only make money if the y get it done in less time than quoted.

yeah I should have did it myself. I figured a professional install would be nice but there’s no such thing as professional anymore. Total bummer.

Here’s photos of what they grinded. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal, I painted it when I got home.

Do you think going to the next set of holes would make this step sit tighter to the truck or would it be a waste of time?

It's hard to tell from the photos. I would look at it carefully and see if it makes sense to move them. You can move just one and see if it helps. If not, put it back. Do you have the instructions or online instructions. See what hole they say to use.

The only instructions that I found online didn’t specify which holes to use, I’m wondering if maybe that’s why that shop messed up, or just total incompetence who knows.

It makes sense to use that other set of holes because it would make the step’s bracket clear the part they grounded down, but at this point I’m not so sure if it would change the way the step sits up against the truck or not.

Are there any other adjustments that I can make to get the steps to sit up closer to the truck or even swing down lower below the truck or not really?

I like the idea of doing one and seeing if it helps. Thank you for your advice on this.

Installed mine today. Instructions weren’t great but they did specify the holes. I took off my stationary boards and these new brackets used the same holes. Install wasn’t bad. Wiring and securing everything with zip ties took a bit. The worst part though was drilling out the pinch welds for the lights. The whole thing took about 4.5-5 hours working alone.
