Well I pulled the trigger and bought a Chinese camper shell from Alibaba. Either its going to be a hell of a deal or a dud. The price was right so I took a chance. Anyone have any experience with these? Looks like a lot of the US versions are just branded products from overseas.

Last i heard, it took about 5 months on a slow boat from you know where but when it came in it was what was ordered. Just took a LOOOOONNNNNGGGGGG time to get here.

I was just told it has been loaded on the ship and given a tracking number. Estimated destination port arrival is March 11. I hear so much negativity around these caps that I'm nervous. I will soon know the truth. Crossing my fingers

I have been tracking the boat and it has arrived in Savannah. Excitingly, waiting for a delivery. I have found and purchased some items to add a bit of customization.
  1. compression locks that will lock from the outside but yet will open from the inside.
  2. 270 degree awning
  3. shower/changing enclosure
  4. (2) Prinsu roof racks. One for the cab and one for the canopy
  5. Clearvu camera cleaner. One spray of the front windshield also cleans the rear
  6. Rear view camera (same model as stock unit by 3rd break light) which I plan to mount on the back of the canopy via a 5mm grommet
  7. Flasher model - it will add a flashing feature to the break light once the break pedal is pushed.
  8. (2) reverse/Break/ Turn models
I can never leave stock alone. I am forever a mod monster. My happiest find was the locks.

any update?
Had a text yesterday that they required another $80 for shipping due to my remote location. Payable via Zelle which raised dome red flags. I ignored the first message and then I got a call 2 days later. They verified my name, account number for Alibaba, shipment ID, ship it was transported on, ed my order. All checked out so I paid the fee. I then checked with the company they were unaware of a fee but that was the logistic company. They are going to verify with shipping. The came back and said that they should have contacted them and not me but everything is okay. Waiting on a call from the shipping clerk to arrange final delivery.

My shell arrived today. Jan 29 order placed to April 1st delivery (62 days) Crate was not in perfect condition but it did its job of protecting the contents. Initial thoughts is that it will exceed my expectations compared to value. Lots of cleanup of excess glue needed, minor dings (or maybe where they hung the panels to powder coat), kit was complete. Windows are smaller than I expected which has its pros and cons. Pro it balances light with security, Panels still can be pushed open for a bigger opening. Cons -they are tiny. I have time to clean and assemble this as I'm installing a deck system first with an integrated second battery setup. I'll provide more pics as I progress.

any pic on the truck?
I'm an attention whore so they'll be coming. I'm into full transparency. After closer inspection I found one panel with a bit more than a ding damage so its in the body shop. $75 to reshape. It would have been okay but its the drivers side and I'd be looking at it every time, I got in/out. I do expect to see some future trail damage so it's just me showing my OCD side. After talking with the shop owner I'm also getting it painted to match my rig; in hopes that the white will cut down the heat. I'm also looking at putting rhino roof tracks that are a bit more low profile than what were provided. All adds to the overall cost but not needed as it is fully functional as delivered.

Here is my chat GPT inspiration. It will be nice to see How close I get to it. The white kinda loses its ruggedness and makes it feel like a work truck.
