Bought a 2023 AT4 a few months back. Since i work from home, it doesn't get driven much. About once every two weeks ( i start the truck and climate control is on auto) it does not cool regardless of how low i set it. After about 5 minutes and on/off/on./off 20 times it came up and cooled. Left home depot and it came right up blowing cold. When it's 105 degrees here, well you get the idea. Is this a common issue? I still have the "initial service" to be done, even though i bought it used, and planned to bring this up but it's a coin toss every time i start it as to whether or not it will work.

That refrigerant is so govt. regulated down, we're luck it works at all. My last 3 trucks (2 tundras and a GMC) only cooled when above 2k RPM's. When greater than 90 degrees, it can never keep up.

I was going to say, something must be wrong, until I read rick's post.

I must say I must have Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday built trucks, cause the 22 and 23 cool down at idle, almost as good as the 93 with r12. They don't condense the moisture in the vents like r12, but I am damn impressed. And this year it was HOT and humid. They will cool down so much that your sunglasses will fog up getting out of the cab...

Sounds to me like you have an issue with the AC. The only complaint I get about my AC is from the wife saying it's too cold. It gets over 100 here in the summer, and the I've never had an issue cooling the cab down.

When it is super hot out make sure you are pressing the recirculate button, I have personally noticed a huge difference in the air temp coming from the vents when that button is pressed.

At idle it's getting that cold? My last three trucks have blown warm air until I start driving. I wonder what's different.

They are the HD's with the diesel. They have a huge cooling stack. Maybe that is the difference. The '21 3.0? I don't remember. Wife stole the truck, she hasn't said anything about it not cooling.

Yes, at idle. I don't usually take photos while driving, not that I don't, just not common.

I also have a 2023 AT4X purchased new in May of this year. The AC has never worked properly! The dealer cannot fix the problem and says it is likely a firmware/software problem. With the AC system set on "Auto", at vehicle start-up, the blower works properly for about3 to 5 seconds, and then the blower speed steps down as if I were making a phone call. The blower will stay at this lower speed until I actually make or receive a phone call or until I do a work-around of the problem by pressing the manual fan UP speed twice and then putting AC system back into "Auto" mode. The system then works as it should. This is especially troublesome when outside temps in west Texas are 105° and temps in the cab are likely 115° plus. This can be a distraction while driving as well and could create liability for GM were there to be an accident due to this distraction.

For a vehicle that cost upwards of $90K, you would think that GM could allocate someone to develop a software fix. A large GM dealer in the Dallas, TX area told me that other owners are having this problem as well. This tells me that it is not due to some erroneous setting made during initial vehicle set-up.

Come on GM, you can do better than this!

I wonder if the Google Android software controls that. If so, being a software engineer, I can put 100% blame on google. They are the worst programmer teams I have ever experienced in my life. If they fix that, they will break something else. The only thing they are experts in is selling their junk software (to companies like GM) and lock them into it, then continuously deliver them substandard software. GM recently announced they will not offer Apple CarPlay in their electric cars, and force people to use google navigation that captures everything about you that it can and sells the information. GM and other auto manufacturers made a deal with the devil, when contracting with google.

UPDATE: The google maps in the truck offers you two choices for what information they steal from you. 1. Everything 2. Everything, but only when navigating. Given no other choice, I choose #2. I noticed today that is was back to #1, all on its own. Google will blame it on a mistake in an update, but by now, we should all know they are lying.
