Hello!

I am looking @ picking up a 2024 AT4X Duramax in next few weeks. As a previous F-150 Tremor and gen 3 Raptor owner, I'm curious as to ride quality on the AT4X.

My only gripe w/ the AT4X is OEM selection. I'm looking for a quite, well balanced, good performing AT alternative. Quick search shows a 285/70r18, load range E, Nitro Ridge Grappler, being a solid contender. Weight per tire is 58lbs, roughly 8lbs over OEM. Assuming MPG's take low % hit, I'm not overly concerned w/ this option.

However, I am concerned with change to load range E from a load range C OEM. I'd like to keep ride quality as best as possible. Is it best to stay factory?

Looking fwd to input and suggestions.

Thanks,

I have a 2022 AT4x. The factory ride is excellent, I previously owned a Gen 1 Raptor- I would put the rides very close. I have the same tires I put on my Raptor, Toyo MT’s, did they hurt the ride- yes on both, but not very much. I mean they are 4x4 trucks after all. As for tires, I put those Nitto load C on my Jeep and am very pleased with the ride. If I was needing tires, mine on my truck only have about 5000 on them, no question at all- I would go with load C. In my research, they are plenty strong for a 1/2 ton truck and would give a softer ride- would it be enough to tell the diff, well who knows? Guess it would depend on how sensitive of a butt you got😂😂😳🤔 Just my 2 cents worth. Either way ya go, put results on here for us all. Good Luck. And pics of your ride when ya get it.
I went with 285/70/18 Toyo’s on stock wheels.

Hey, thanks for quick reply.

I'll keep updates rolling. I have a deposit to hold truck until I can make it to Albertville to pick up.

Looking 285/70s on factor wheels. AT needed, don't need MT's. Any recommendations on a C rated 285/70?

There we hit the problem, for some reason neither Toyo or Nitto (the two I like) make a C rated tire that I can find in a 18. At least not in mud or all terrain

Lol; probably gonna have to bite bullet and settle on load range E.

I had E range on previous F150's. Ran 35-40 psi. Def. stiffer ride, but I like firm, not harsh experience.

And yes--I do have a sensitive butt.

I did E’s in 275/70-18. Toyo Open Country R/T Trails. The ride isn’t much off stock and they look pretty good.

How’s the handling on the highway and wet weather? Do you know how much they weigh?
Handle fine. Can’t remember the exact weight but they were 3lbs lighter per tire than Ridge Grapplers. Wanna say 56lbs but check Toyo to be sure.

Good call on new Toyo R/T Trails. I look them up.

What is the consensus on running a 285/75r18 on stock suspension, stock wheels?

Just installed Toyo AT3 285/70r18 (E, 127) on my 2024 AT4X yesterday. 38 psi all around - rides awesome. If you run at 70psi, sure, the E stiffness might chatter your teeth a bit, but so far (after a solid one hour of driving) love these - no rubbing (backed up to curb with full lock, etc.), look great and just a bit less slop going around some sharp turns in the mountains of Palos Verdes, CA.

Awesome!
What kind of hit did you take on fuel mileage?

Zero noticeable hit to mileage but also still at break in. The new tires add 1/2” to diameter and are heavier and just took them 450 miles with same MPG as stock tires.

Thanks,
I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. All of the Jeep "experts" said to stay away from Load range E as it was too stiff. I ended up getting the RG in Load range E. I certainly would have gotten C but didnt have it in any size I was interested in. They are heavy! But for ride I am very happy with them.

Thanks for the update, really cool you haven't seen an impact to mileage w/ weight differential from OE tires.
