Tonight I popped the hood for the first time and was shocked to see the hood insulator looks like it caught fire or melted without ever noticing, immediately sent the pic to the dealership and called me quickly to inform me that they ordered a new insulator and to cut the excess material off while I wait for 7-10 business days. Has anyone else had this issue?

no damage to anything else, specifically the plastic directly underneath? could it have been mice?
It could very well have been mice. But from my experience, they wouldn't have done that much damage. More than likely the bastards would've tried to burrow in between hood and insulation. You should be seeing other signs.

I can't quite tell on my phone screen, are the edges melted that are hanging down?

I can't believe for as big of an area you aren't seeing other debris on top of engine.

Can you take a closer shot of the right hand side where I see a white spot in the upper corner?

I’d pop that sucker off entirely while you wait. The weather is cool and they were selling trucks without insulators at one point anyway. Meaning that not having one for a short time right now isn’t going to hurt anything. I wouldn’t want any more of that potentially falling into the engine area.

Yeah its a possibility...the thing is which is my fault is that I didn't pop the hood at the time of purchase, therefore it honestly could've already been like that from sitting in the lot.
