2024 2500 AT4 Titan 56 gallon fuel tank

My 2016 and 2021 learned the new tank. My 2023 will not permanently learn the new tank. 22k miles with the new tank and the fuel gauge will still mess up.

If i fill up with a crappy fuel mileage hauling to full tank empty truck 20mpg- it will mess up.
If I have a pretty full tank 40-45 gallons and fill up completely for a trip- it will mess up.

Always resets and works fine again but the 2023 doesn’t “Learn”.

Thanks for the feedback. When you say “fill up” does that mean diesel all the way up into the filler neck? If so, the vent line could be filling up each time (I hear vent lines can hold as much as 2 gallons) causing the tank level response to change putting the whole system back in “learn mode” continuously. Might be worth a try to not fill it up into filler neck?

The XL fuel tanks hold more fuel horizontally and a little higher than the factory tank. I can burn +/-10 gallons before it registers off Full. If they drive farther (burned less fuel) than the computer thinks it should have based on MPG/range.

I fill my truck up by the automatic handle and sometimes pull the handle again to make sure it didn’t cut off due to foam. I do this bc GM designed the fill hole to soak the step with slippery diesel if it spills over.
