Good afternoon people; I'm new to the forum. Recently got a AT4X with the AEV upgraded front bumper and tires. I was replacing the license plate lights with LED bulbs when I noticed my spare tire rim it's not the same as what the truck has. My rims are black and the spare is grey. Anyone know if the spare it supposed to match the black rims that the truck has. Thanks in advance for your help.

Mine is the same way, I assume it is done that way for some purpose. Probably cheaper to put a gray one instead of a black one for a spare tire.

Mine is the same, did not like it when I first saw it day one on the lot. Seems I paid enough for the truck to have 5 matching wheels.

GM has been putting the gray steel rims with a different tire size and tread pattern for many years on all their pickups 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive perhaps as far back as 2000. There may be an exception on the trucks that have the front electric locking diffs. but I am not sure since the fully locked diff would suffer more stress if one tire was slightly smaller than the other. I guess GM is not concerned about the size difference on the rear diffs.

No 5 tire rotations just 4. On my 2016 I noted 5 tires and rims were to be the same on the offer and when I was taking delivery I looked under the bumper and the spare was grey so after some discussion the dealer brought a matching new rim and tire from another take off and replaced it for me. ;) On my 22 AT4 its grey just like the rest of them.:)

For the folks with the electric locking front diff; check your owners manual to confirm.

Rim & tire is the same size on my AT4X just not an all black wheel like the other 4. The spoke pattern is the same I do believe just silver/grey on the flat fronts of the spokes.

Even though I have after market wheels and tires now on my 23 AT4X, I looked at my spare the other day, and it is the same wheel as the other 4 factory wheels I traded off when I got new wheels and tires. However, I did not look that close to see if it was black or grey - it looked black, but it could have been darker grey. I will have to look now!

I really got to thinking about this because I had a tire blow on my large enclosed job trailer an hour from home, on an empty stretch of back country Montana hwy. I have never had a spare for my trailer, but now I do, as this caused me to lose a day of work to get taken care of so I could get the trailer home (I bought a new trailer tire and wheel and put it on myself the next day).

But anyway, after this situation, I thought I'd look at what GM put on my 23 AT4X for a spare, and it is the stock wheel and tire that comes with the AT4X, although I need to look closer to see if it is black or dark grey. I know that if I blow a front tire and need to use this spare, that the spare is 2" smaller than the rest of my after market tires, so that is something to consider. I don't want to be driving very far on a spare that is that much smaller than my 34" tires I have on now. The spin rate difference would/could cause some binding issues, I'd have to drive carefully and hopefully not very far.

My spare is not the same. Size may be correct but my 2023x came with a silver rim and not the same black…will GMC swap it?

I have a 2023 AT4X with black wheels. I had a slow leak in one of them and decided to take it off to get fixed. I decided to rotate the spare into the mix and keep all of them at the roughly the same tread wear (size). Spare was covered and dirt and I didn't even realize it was grey until I swapped the center cap. It's the same tire, same rim in a different color. Disappointing.

Strange that its a different color ???

All 5 on my 2024 2500HD AT4X AEV are the AEV stamped wheels; if they were'nt I'd have purchased a new rim. For the additional $10k I paid for AEV, I"m glad they are all the same.

My 2024 AT4X has a spare with the 18” wheel that comes standard on the AT4. Kind of strange but I wouldn’t have cared if it was the el cheapo temporary tire that comes as a spare on a lot of trucks
