I bought a '99 Silverado and drove it off the lot on 1/1/99. That was the first year of the Silverado as a model, and not a package (the end of the C/K era). I drove it for three months before I saw another one on the road. I kept that truck for 2 weeks shy of 20 years, selling it in 12/2018, with 290K miles. It was clean and ran like a top. Only real work I did was a tranny rebuild. Since that day, I've been shopping for my next truck. I wanted a loaded truck that I'd be happy to keep for at least 10 years, and had been thinking Denali, but I wanted MT tires and a small lift/level. Problem was I was also getting past a divorce and starting a new job, so spending that coin on a Denali was more like a 3-year goal. Then the AT4X was announced. I immediately knew that was the truck. Still, I was about a year away from being ready. I watched them get released in 2022 and saw you guys buying them up. But when they announced the AT4X AEV last fall, I was on a record-setting pace at work and knew exactly where that January bonus was going.

A friend of mine works at a nearby GMC dealership, and they have an AT4X AEV in their allocation. She put my name on it, and it's getting built in 3 weeks. Hoping to have it in the driveway within 6 weeks. There's not much to do to these trucks (not for me, anyway). I'll get a Cognito UCA and a leveling kit. I'll put an aluminum rolling tonneau cover on the bed and a gun safe in the console. Probably do the illuminated red GMC logo in the front grill and the GMC puddle lamps, and call it a day. For now though, I'm like a kid with a new puppy, just hoping to get it in my driveway. I'll post pictures once it's here. Can't wait!

Congrats! The new AEV bumper is awesome
I got mine a couple days ago and the 2023 offers the new AEV bumper and front grill

So I started this thread back in late January when I ordered my truck. It arrived in late April and I started the mods. Let's be honest, these trucks don't need a lot of mods. They come with everything, so you pretty much just pick a color. I had a short list of things I wanted to do to it (you COULD do a ton of stuff, but the truck doesn't really need it). Since I've seen other discussion on the board about dealer markup, I'll say that I bought the truck at MSRP (plus a nice little friends and family discount), so I didn't pay $5K or $10K (or more) over sticker. Motor City GMC in Bakersfield didn't get in on the greed game when everyone else did. Definitely worth the drive (or even a flight) if you're in the western US.

While I was still signing docs at the dealership, I wandered over to parts and picked up the puddle lamps, the lighted front badge, and the multipro tailgate lights. I ordered my console safe that week and it's STILL on backorder! I bought a Roll'n'Lock tonneau cover. Then I had the truck ceramic coated, and blacked out the windows with ceramic tint -- or at least as blacked out as I can in California without getting pulled over.

But the biggest mod I wanted to make was leveling the truck, and that was the hardest part. I don't like the Rough Country stuff, and they're the only ones that make a leveling kit specifically for the AT4X. I bought the AEV version, so I didn't want to put new tires and wheels, and I definitely didn't want to change out the Multimatics or cut fenders and trim. Cognito makes a tube-style UCA similar to Rough Country, but I don't like that one either. I wanted the square box formed steel UCA, but Cognito wasn't sure it would fit. This forum helped a lot. I saw TexasAT4X's posts and referred the techs at Cognito to his comments and others. Ultimately, they said they think it'll fit, but it'll require 1/4" spacers, or possibly 1" hub-centric spacers. (So they didn't know, but I think they knew I was going to do it anyway). I had my guy order the UCA's and 1/4" spacers. I bought some 1" spacers on Amazon, just in case. The Cognito's fit perfectly. We used the 1/4" spacers, and I'm not sure it even needed them, though my guy said we probably did. We only went up 1-1/8", so not totally level. But we didn't want to put a harsher angle on the CV's. Still, I think it looks way better, and the UCA's are SO much better than the factory ones.

I love this truck. It doesn't drive like a lifted truck at all. I've had it since late-April, and I haven't seen another AT4X on the road in California anywhere ('22 or '23), much less an AEV version. The only thing I have left to do is the exhaust. Early reports on the AT4X were that it had the Borla cat-back system. (Early reports also suggested it had a winch, too, so whatever). Nope, it's got the huge GM can muffler. That's going away. I'm not going to do a full cat-back system, but I do want to replace that can with a Borla S-Type muffler. I'm considering the Borla ATAK, but I don't want it too loud. After that, I'll just drive it for 10 years or more and enjoy. :)

Here's a few shots, before the leveling kit....

New to the forum. Purchasing a 2023 AT4X AEV edition next week and was wondering if the AEV with the steel front and rear AEV bumpers come stock with the rock sliders? I noticed that yours does. But the one I'm looking at the dealership doesn't have them installed.

They're part of the AEV package. They should be on there.

I'll take a look at my sticker and get back to you. But I'm nearly positive they're part of the package.

I looked at the MSRP sticker of the one buying this coming week and it reads "Rocker Protection" under Options & Pricing, AEV Edition $6895. Is that the rock sliders?
Very appreciate your response, definitely want to get everything that associated with the AEV Edition package.

Yup, definitely included in the AEV package. Yes the rocker protection is the rock sliders. Here's my sticker...

(y)(y)(y) Thank you very much for the info. I'll make sure that they are installed before taking delivery.

The manufacturer ships those type of things loose with the vehicle for the dealer to install. There have been many cases here where the dealer "lost" the item and the customer had to fight to get what they paid for.

Took delivery of my 2023 ATX4 AEV edition today with the rock sliders on. That's what happened, they received them separately and were never installed, sitting in their parts room. They weren't even aware that this was part of the AEV package until I brought it to their attention.

Got rid of that huge GM can muffler last week and put a Borla ATAK Cratemuffler on my AT4X. Sounds WAY better! The video shows a cold start. I jumped to the warm idle, but it was only a few seconds after ther video transitioned. Total time from cold start to the quiet idle at the end was only 30-45 seconds (Temps in the 80's this week).

Message for Kane88, thinking about going the same route as you did with the Cognito UCA's and 1/4" spacer. Looks much better that way. So no other leveling kit is used? Anything on the rear to level?
