So...this happened camping last weekend. I put my FOB in the middle console cup holder (with my wallet AND phone...) and proceeded to break down camp and pack the truck. At some point, the truck locked itself (I have passive locks enabled but it has NEVER done this before)!! My wife had her FOB thank GOD but was on a walk and we were able to get in once she returned to camp. Then it happened again this morning getting ready for work. Key FOB in the driver seat, close the door, run in the house, doors lock. Obviously, something has changed recently although I have not done any updates or had service in the last month. I can turn off passive locks but...I like the feature.. until now. Thoughts? Solutions?? TIA

I wonder if the fob was close enough to the fob pocket, it would've allowed you to push the door handle button to unlock it?

What year is your truck? Maybe the battery is weak (doubtful). I would turn passive locking off till you get it squared away.

I like tech, but not when it comes to locking/unlocking doors. Maybe cause I lock my truck once a month If that. Our house has never been locked, 2019 construction.

Hell, I have a '90 GMC ton dually the the keys have not been removed from the ignition, since it drove off the dealership lot.

It's a 2023 bought in March.
Neither door handle button would unlock, so I think the FOB was too far from the sensor.
I get turning it off for now and I will...but when you pay for the tech, you expect the tech to work. Frustrating and could be really an issue out in the woods.

I would try a new battery. Placing the FOB in center cup console is exactly where your supposed to when programming. You are doing everything right. I would start with a new battery because its the easiest and cheapest option to start with. Yes, I agree that the battery should NOT be weak, but it is a good start. IMO.
