Hey guys, new to gm here . Just got a 23 at4x. Happy to be back in a v8. Long term plan to do a cam and associated mods. Long tubes and exhaust. Looking for recommendations on where to start ie tune? And maybe a cat back that I could add the other parts of the exhaust too later ? Thx

Welcome. I just had the 6.2 engine replaced in my ‘23 AT4X. Before I did any internal engine mods, I would make sure the L87 recall has been done and then have several oil samples analyzed to make sure the lower end of the engine is in good shape.

Hi. And thank you for the response. Yes recall is done. Spoke with Texas speed today, they have the kit to delete the “Cadillac 4-6-8” feature. Figured during this I’d switch to a different cam profile that mechanical part seems straight forward as anything else but the question is the tuning. Sounds like hp would be where to start does anyone have any advice on first steps here? Thinking this should be unlocked first . Maybe a tune in the interm while driving my self crazy researching what can to actually get..

Is this something you plan to do yourself or have a shop do? If it's the latter, I'd suggest researching competent shops local to your area and talk with them directly. I'd also take heed on what @Powawagon said and have a few oil samples sent before actually pulling the trigger on anything. Just because you passed, doesn't mean your completely out of the woods. It's the very reason the NHTS has opened up it's subsequent investigation...motors that have passed and ones that have been replaced are still failing....

Sadly my AT4 is in the recall and I'm on the other side of that fence as I've already Supercharged it 2 years ago. I'll be sending in a sample later this Spring to have analyzed to see where I stand, but so far so good.

I have yet to go to the dealer for the recall, because honestly, what are they going to do if it fails the test? I surmise it'd just be a waste of my time and patience. I also don't have a lot of faith that even if you pass the test, does that mean your good to go.

Anybody do a full exhaust? Headers back ? If so what headers did you start with. ? Thx
