Hey everyone, I wanted to see what options I have with the suspension upgrades. I've done some research but have not found much specifically for this 2023 3.0L model. I'm interested in the Bilstein 5100/6100s but on their website, a search for products has no results. 4wheels also told me that it being a diesel, it would make a difference on the fitment. I have purchased the Icon UCAs and want to get them installed once I get the new shocks/struts. What have you done to your 2023 for suspension?

I don't think diesel or non-diesel should matter. It didn't on my 2020 AT4. But maybe that changed with the newer ones.

I am assuming you have an AT4 since the AT4X does not come with the 3.0 diesel.

Did the same setup on my '20 AT4 3.0l. Haven't seen any changes like Teegunn said.

I ordered 24-309509 front and 24-309516 rear today for my 22 Refreshed AT4 CC LM2 from Bilstein Canada and was told they are the same for the 22 R as for the 21's so my SWAG is they are the same on your 2023 if it is an AT4 or you plan to lift it as stated.

I purchased those models you listed last week, just need to find the time to get them installed.

Swapped out the Rancho Junkos for the Bilstein 5100's in the rear and I gotta say is wow. Huge upgrade. Truck feels way more planted, elimated the walk in the rear. Feels more confident over shitty PA roads.

My Bilstein shocks just arrived and are still in the garage but I have noticed my truck rides a bit lighter probably due to the cost of the shocks and a lighter wallet. I will update in a month or so when I decide to install them. ;)
Good to hear that you think they made a difference.

I installed the Bilstein 5100 in the rear and have driven both highway and a bit off road with truck only and pulling about 3500 lb. tandem trailer and have not noticed any difference from the Ranchos. When I took the Ranchos off they expanded to full length immediately and feel similar to the Biltsteins.
I replaced my rear shocks at about 11000km/6875miles so they were in good shape.
Don't buy the hype and wait until your shocks are worn or shot before replacing with any upgraded shocks. ;)

One more thing to consider - I was pulling the trigger on the 6112's and going to use them for the larger shock body and 1.2" mount to almost level the truck. Found out these are not compatible with the 3.0's and when I called Bilstein he confirmed it's because the DSL motor is heavier than the gassers and we would not get the advertised lift as the spring rate on them was designed for the 5.3/6.2 motors.

I recommend you go with the 5100's in the front designed for the 3.0 motor: Part# 24-309509 just like @Andystoy AT4 said. The advertised 1.1" of lift are supposed to actually get you that height with the OE springs.

The 6112's/spring will work with the 3.0l diesel. I set mine for the stock height and did a before and after measurement and have ran them for the last 3 years and no issue and no change in height.

A 3.0L Duramax diesel engine weighs 480 pounds or 218 kilograms.

The weight of a 6.2L V8 gas engine is 403 pounds or 183 kilograms.

I wouldn't sweat it

Hi Andy,

It been few months since you had bilsteins on so what is your take on it.Should we just wait for stock shocks to worn out or the bilstein make a significant difference. Also i was thinking to go with all four 5100 front and rear.Any Feedback will be really appreciated.

I have all 4 but the fronts were not cooperating so they are still in the box. I have a different plan for install this time and will probably install them when I switch to my Duratrax for the winter (October)
My initial assessment still holds on the rears; unless you need new shocks wait until you.
I will update on how 4 feel like once I get the front installed. JMO ;)
