So I picked up my 2022 AT4 refresh on June 21st. All was well, no issues, ran like a tank. On July 6th the check engine light came on and I received an email alert to service the emissions system. I had only put one tank of fuel in it after going through the tank the dealership put in it. The check engine light turned off and came back on about 3 more times in the matter of 4 days. When I parked the truck on the evening of July 10th I heard a hissing sound coming from the front driver's side engine compartment, kind of like a pressure release of air. As I drove the truck to the dealership on July 11th, I heard a loud slapping sound coming from the engine compartment on the driver's side, like a hose had popped off and was hitting the sidewall as I drove. The drive was only a few miles and I nursed it in there. A few days later the dealership stated they received a notification from the factory that GMC issued a notice about the Duramax 3.0 having issues with exhaust leaks and stated only #2 diesel fuel should be fueled in the engine. I only put 2 tanks of #2 diesel in it and I had about 1400 miles on it. Here we are 10 days after turning the truck in for service and the dealership stated GMC has alerted them to a production problem with the catalytic converter and they need to remove the turbo and replace the exhaust components. Truck might be done next week. My truck was made in Mexico. Has anyone else experience this?

I haven't. Mine is still sitting in MX. While they are waiting on chips they can sort this out too. Maybe that's the long game for GM here. People like me who have never bought a GM vehicle before will be made to wait until they get any and all issues worked out of the vehicle. So they can convince me that the reliability is what I would expect and just ruin the customer service and customer interaction in the process.

Got the truck back today and attached the service notes here for you to review. Runs good now but will update if anything else pops up.

Watching, thanks for the information. 2021 3.0 with 41,000 miles. No issues yet. Hopefully they have you fixed up.

2022 Sierra 1500 Refresh 3.0 Duramax Elevation made in MX. So I bought the truck in July. Drove it for a week and the check engine light came on with the emission fault text. Made a service appointment and was about to bring it in and the light went out. Thought it was a fluke, so I cancelled my appointment. 5 days later the light came back on and this time stayed on. Dropped off the truck and after a week they said it was a emission back pressure sensor along with exhaust leaks. They ordered several sensors and after testing them they said they all came back bad. Three weeks later they finished my truck. Got it back and drove to work the next day. Light came back on with the emission code again. Trucks getting dropped back off tomorrow. So I've had my truck for a little over a month, but its been in my possession for less than a week. Hate to do it, but I'm researching the lemon law! Oh, and I didn't even mention what happens to the stereo when the car gets wet. Whole different issue that they have no fix for!

Yeah my check engine light and text message to service the emissions system came on again last week. I made another service appointment for tomorrow and of course the light turned off now.

Full emission system is being ripped out and replaced. Three others at the dealership with the same problem.

I bought my truck in june and since then it has been in shop 3 times already with emission system problems, do you have any update with yours?

1st time Nox sensor 2 replaced
2nd time exhaust leak repair supposedly
3rd time def injector replaced ,
it worked fine for 2 weeks , check engine light came back on wednesday and same emission system problem , I'm beyond frustrated

Just picked up a new diesel duramax 1500 AT4 and have had similar problems. After two weeks of having the truck the check emissions system light went on. Took it in for evaluation. No issues appreciated. Dealership gave it back to me. I drove it without problems for another 2-3 weeks then the emissions system sensor went off. This time the truck went in for 3.5 weeks. I had sensors replaced along with two catalytic converters. Dealership gave me a thumbs up. I have had it back for 1.5 weeks and today the emissions sensor went off again. Dropping truck off Weds. love the truck but not liking the hassle with the emission system. Have had the stuck for 12 weeks now and 4 of those have been in the shop.

I wonder at what point does GMC do something else to fix this? Like swap the truck out? Paying for a truck to sit in the shop doesn’t sit well with me.

Just got off of the phone with the service guy. They found another leak in a different clamp on the exhaust system. The part is on back order with no ETA. They said they reset the codes and the truck is fine to drive, even if the check engine light comes back on for the same issue. They said to pick it up and they are supposed to call me once the part comes in to finish the service. Not sure how much more of this I can take. I was patient with the build/order/delivery process but COME ON MAN!

I just got back from the dealer and they told me the same, that I am to drive the truck with the check engine light on, and the clamp to fix the exhaust leak is on backorder. Mine has 17k miles and I have had it for almost two years. for me this is the first issue with this truck. I can only pray they do something to rectify this crap. good luck with your issues, I called GM corporate to discuss the clamp issues for backorder and the rental car crap, they said that GM will "reimburse" a loaner but i would have to pay for the whole thing up front and that is really crappy.
