Hello. New member here.
Until recently, I owned a 2022 F-250 Super Duty Lariat 7.3L.
The F-250 was 'totaled' in a massive hail storm (Central Texas) in April, 23 during a camping trip! Only 7 months old!!
When looking for a replacement truck, I realized I really didn't love the new front end design of the 2023 Super Duty trucks.
Since GM introduced the 10 speed Allison with the L8T gas option for the 2024 model year, plus an excellent interior update....I took a long hard look at the Chevrolet and GMC 2500HD.
After a lot of research, I determined that the 2024 GMC 2500HD AT4 L8T was the best choice for me, my tastes and what I actually use the truck for.
Took delivery of my new 2024 GMC 2500HD AT4 from the dealer this Friday, June 16th!
So far I'm very very happy with the GMC 2500HD AT4 purchase! Mind you, historically I've been a loyal and satisfied Ford fan...so switching brands is a pretty big deal to me.
I'm very impressed with all the attention to detail that GM obviously took with the 2024 HD trucks.
Loving the design (inside and out) as well as all the features of the AT4 trim.
Since I recently came from a 7.3L Godzilla w/ 10R140, I can say the GM drivetrain (6.6L L8T w/ Allison) is definitely smoother and quieter.
I haven't towed yet, but I expect the 6.6L L8T w/ Allison combo to beat the 7.3L Godzilla w/ 10 speed in the refinement department.
I was concerned the 401 hp / 464 lb-ft 6.6L L8T might feel a bit weaker vs the 430 hp and 475 lb-ft of the 2022 7.3L Godzilla. I'm happy to report that is not the case.
I believe the 10 speed Allison is the game changer between the two powertrains. The Allison is definitely more refined vs the Ford 10R140 10 speed. Also, the 6.6L L8T is a bit quieter. Not that I needed a quieter V8....just an observation.
Anyway, l thought I'd introduce myself...being a new GM HD owner and all. So far very happy with my decision to go GMC AT4!!
Cheers!
