2021 AT4 6.2 Brakes

Service brake monitor system warning.
Took it into the dealer for checking this out and found out that at 23,600 miles I need to put brakes all around this truck. Funny though I do not haul trailers nor am I hard on the brakes. I use the tranny in manual mode to help decelerate down to conserve on the brakes. I was shocked and actually pissed to find out I need to replace the pads at a minimum all the way around.
On my 14 1500 AT Iridium Metallic with a 5.3 I got around 40,000 miles off the brakes then went to RockAuto and purchased PowerStop kit Z23 Evolution Sport front and rear kit KC6560

Dealer stated they see it all the time. Come on GM what the hell!
On average for those that own the AT4's, which I totally LOVE except for this shit, how many miles with similar driving habits have you had before replacing the brakes.

You driving with two feet? You got one on the brake pedal at all times?

If the brakes really are down that low there's something going on because that's nowhere near normal.

I hit a deer with mine last October. I had just driven 5000 miles to Florida, all over Florida, hauling my Harley on a open trailer, and my bed full of heavy stuff. I hit the brakes HARD when I saw the deer, but couldn't avoid her. I got my truck back from the body shop in mid March, but noticed that my rear brake rotors were slightly warped, as whenever I hit the brakes, I could feel the thump thump thump back there.. I checked my information screens when I got it back, and at 43,000 miles, I had 70% front, and 66% rear left. I drove the truck back to Florida for 2 weeks in May, and while running to Key West, I checked my percentages again, and it showed my rear were down to 33%.. Kind of wild, but the fronts were still at 68% (drove straight through from upstate NY to Vero Beach area, then to Keys). After getting detoured in Miami to route 1 for whatever reason, the service brake monitor flashed on my dash, then it flashed that I had only 1,200 miles of rear brake left. It then blocked off the percentages of brake life left. I didn't have my tools down there, so I babied her back home to Upstate NY last week. Picked up new ceramic pads, and good rotors from my local car quest. I put the truck into SERVICE BRAKE MODE, compressed the pistons with a pry bar like normal, pulled the calipers, rotors (this is when I noticed that the factory clips that go on the rear wheel studs were missing, so it had been apart at some point, not sure where when or why). When I completed the job, I took it out of service brake mode, it flashed my screen stating that it sensed new rear brakes, and I clicked YES, and then it happened. it would not update the percentages of brake left, but kept flashing SERVICE BRAKE MONITOR... I do most, if not all of my own stuff, but the snap on scan tool that I have at my disposal isn't updated to scan this 2021 truck. So instead of crawling to my dealer to clear the stupid freaking code, I took the truck to a friends shop. His scan tool had the current updates, and that code needed to be cleared in order for the system to acknowledge the new pads. All set now, and good to go.. Just thought that I'd pass this info on in case anybody wants to do this on their own. With the way this worked out, if you're able to do your own work, I would do brakes BEFORE the error code kicks on. The system should be fine, and work as designed at that time. My truck has 48,000 miles on it now, and the inboard rear pads were GONE. Outboard were like new... Made sure to grease up the slides, and applied never seize to the screws that hold on the rear rotors, and the face of the axles to the rotors. Also scuffed, primered, and pained the backing plates, as they seem to be bare metal, and here in the salt belt, I take precautions to make things last longer..

Did you find the culprit for the excessive rear pad wear? Or was it the wrapped rotors?

I am at 30,000 miles on my 2022 AT4 1500 and the brake life meter says I have 80% left on my pads front and rear...

Changed front and rear out at 30k around 90% still showing on both ends. It was developing a slight vibration around 10k and was getting worse. Outside of the rotors looked good but backside didn't. Rotors weren't worn or the pads but the brake material was imbedding on the backside of the rotor causing the vibration. Talked with a buddy of mine that works for GM said its due to what the factory requires for the pad material. Couldn't reset the life monitor so took it to dealer to get it done. Mechanic there said they see alot of this issue due to the pads, thank you Commifornia....

I did go with a set of Z36 from Powerstop
