This time it has nothing to do with the emissions system error that had me in for service not once, not twice, but THREE times. Luckily that issue seems to be resolved (though not holding my breath on that one). No, this time it’s the front of the engine. I make it a point to inspect the underside of my vehicle every morning after I drove it the previous day. Upon inspection a few days ago I notices a puddle of light pink fluid and assessed it to be coolant. Looked under the hood…levels looked fairly normal, but no visible sign of any leaking. Slid under the truck, flashed a light up into the engine bay and sure enough…fluid clearly visible. Called the dealer, told me I could come in in two weeks…bullshit! Picked up the bat phone and dialed my neighbor who’s the commercial fleet manager ant the same dealership asking for yet another favor. He took it in that morning, they got it up on the rack, determined…

FAULTY WATER PUMP (coolant leaking from a weep hole?)
PLUS…OIL LEAK from “FRONT MAIN”

Have not heard yet on parts and eta of repair, know how things are with part delays, I suspect I’m truckless for the next few weeks.

Updates to come.

“You should own a diesel” they said. “Once you go diesel you never look back” they said. Not sure about that…though I love the truck, I never had a single issue with my Colorado ZR2. I miss her.

Diesel folks always talk up diesels like everyone needs one and they are empirically better than gas motors. It's silly. The modern 6.2 gas motor has more power and torque than an old cummins. If you aren't towing 5k+ loads on a weekly basis, there's no reason to go diesel.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it will be the last of your issues. Keep in mind all manufacturers have their problems.
I'm sorry the dealer talked up the diesel, mine tried the same BS stories. I don't care what anyone says... a modern gas engine is way more reliable than any modern diesel. Worst case scenario, if the truck goes in again for something look up the lemon laws in your state. Maybe they can replace it with a gas truck. Good luck.!

*UPDATE*
Finally got the truck back today. They had it since the 3rd, so 8 days. They replaced the water pump as well as took care of the oil leak with a new Crank Pulley bolt. So far so good, but I’ll keep an eye out on. They also took care of the ecm/tcm recall.

I really do love this diesel…i hope this is the end of the issues for a while.

Thank for all the comments.

What is the exam/tcm recall? How did you receive the recall?
