2023 AT4X Mods W/ Pics

Great looking truck and love all the mods, especially the 2 tone cab in black.

I removed the mudflaps and brackets on my 2022 AT4X and it made a huge difference for clearance, so that should do the trick. It’s interesting that the 2023 AT4X with the AEV bumper they deleted the front mud flaps I bet for this very reason knowing it’s an issue once you go a little larger tires and/or a more negative offset wheel.

Thanks!

I like the cab being wrapped also. Gives it a distinctive look. Wife wasn't as much of a fan, she said it made it "look like a race car". I was going to do the wrapping myself, but my guy here in town did it so cheap it wasn't worth my time. I still need the tailgate emblems I ordered to make the tailgate look right IMO.

Yeah, the rear mudflap on the front wheel wells I will take off and I already know where to cut/dremel the mudflaps, then it screws right back on. This will remove the area that is slightly rubbing now. I am planning to remove the metal bracket behind that area too, removing it gives a lot more space and has no negative effects. Then use a self tapping screw to keep the wheel well flashing tight to the frame.

Worst part is my garage is chock full of building materials, tools, etc (I really need to clean it up and organize it), so I will have to do the work outside. I will pick a decent day - needs to be at least in the 30's. Will take the front wheel off so I have more room, then get to trimming. Doesn't look like a really big job, so a nice easy couple of hours should do it. Maybe even less (no jinx).

Wireless full Android Carplay infotainment system adapter. So I can install and use any Android app I want and use it on the infotainment system.

What Android Carplay hardware are you going with?

I haven't decided yet. Looked at everything on Amazon. Price range is $300 to about $80. I don't want to throw down $300, but I also want it to work if I get one. I also want the most updated version of Android I can get, which seems to be the more expensive ones available most of the time. A lot of the ones on Amazon have lower reviews, which is not good.

It seems like a crap-shoot. I might buy the one that looks the best for about $150 and roll the dice. Always can return it. It's not really that big of a deal to me - I don't "need" one, but it would be nice for longer trips. Also nice to have full android where any/all Android apps can be installed - gives lots of flexibility. With the free data/wifi plan the AT4X comes with, I wouldn't have to use hotspot from my phone, just use the trucks own 4G wifi. So I could stream just about anything right to the large display.

I will update if/when I get one, which one it is, and how well it works (or doesn't work).

I have noticed that some of the offerings on Amazon, etc.. aren't clear on what Chip they are utilizing..
They just say "Qualcomm 8-core", rather than if it is the 665 (SM6125) or the SDM450.. Both being 8-core Snapdragon Processors

For sure. You can usually tell the chinese/foreign suppliers by their mangled English usage in the item description or answered questions.

The cheaper ones they can be vague on what the processor and specs are. Also the cheaper ones have less internal storage, which is normal for a cheaper device. Most of them have SD card slots, but not all of them. I could put my MP4 video files on the SD card then fire up movies, etc if one wanted... only while stationary, of course :). Some of the units say the touchscreen is disabled while driving.... don't want that TBH.

I would want a decent enough processor though. We all know slow processors suck to use. For instance, on my TV streaming device - Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 (newest) model - the Shield moves SO much faster/better than say a Roku or similar. Because the Shield has a much better processor and graphics card vs a Roku. Same thing would be the case in an el-cheapo carplay unit vs a higher power, more expensive carplay unit. You almost always get what you pay for.

I clamped open the flapper valve today after reading online that doing so opens things up for a little more growl from the exhaust. Indeed, it seems to have done that. There is more low rumble now. I put about 50 miles in after I clamped open the flapper valve to test for drone, etc. Hit the interstate, 65 mph hwy, and in town. There may be a very little bit of "helicoptering" when the AFM kicks in, but it is so little that it is no bother. I did this as a cheap experiment just to see the result. Had a big C clamp pipe clamp laying around in the garage, it was big enough to fit over both sides of the flapper valve where the spring is, so only needed that one C clamp to hold the flapper valve in the open position. It would take a couple minutes to take off if I change my mind.

Still thinking about doing a muffler swap. Swapping just the stock muffler with a Magnaflow muffler. Local exhaust shop said $300 to do that (includes the muffler in that price). But might not need to do that since the truck has a little more low growl by clamping open the flapper valve. Will give it some time and hold off on the muffler swap decision for now.

The tire shop got the new OEM TPMS sensors in today, I took it in and they swapped them out to my wheels. They did put aftermarket ones in as I expected, confirmed this as I was in the shop while they did the whole change over. I don't know the brand of the aftermarket ones they had put in, but they were a purple color.

After swapping out for the stock TPMS sensors, my truck picked the new OEM sensors up within a short distance of driving it from the shop. All is working good on that now. Don't expect any issues from here on out since I now have brand new stock TPMS sensors in the wheels.

Glad all is good now for you
