2022 Refresh AT4 1500 Duramax 3.0 Diesel Check Engine Light and Exhaust Leak

2022 Sierra 1500 Refresh 3.0 Duramax Elevation made in MX. So I bought the truck in July. Drove it for a week and the check engine light came on with the emission fault text. Made a service appointment and was about to bring it in and the light went out. Thought it was a fluke, so I cancelled my appointment. 5 days later the light came back on and this time stayed on. Dropped off the truck and after a week they said it was an emission back pressure sensor along with exhaust leaks. They ordered several sensors and after testing them they said they all came back bad. Three weeks later they finished my truck. Got it back and drove to work the next day. Light came back on with the emission code again. Trucks getting dropped back off tomorrow. So I've had my truck for a little over a month, but its been in my possession for less than a week. Hate to do it, but I'm researching the lemon law! Oh, and I didn't even mention what happens to the stereo when the car gets wet. Whole different issue that they have no fix for!
What was the outcome?

I just got back from the dealer and they told me the same, that I am to drive the truck with the check engine light on, and the clamp to fix the exhaust leak is on backorder. Mine has 17k miles and I have had it for almost two years. for me this is the first issue with this truck. I can only pray they do something to rectify this crap. good luck with your issues, I called GM corporate to discuss the clamp issues for backorder and the rental car crap, they said that GM will "reimburse" a loaner but i would have to pay for the whole thing up front and that is really crappy.
I am having the same issue. Got clamp in and light went off. 2 weeks later 600 miles light is back on.

After a week my light went out as well. I’m expecting it to come back on soon. But we will see.

I hope it works out for you. Took mine back to dealer today. Did a smoke test in the exhaust system and said it needs a seal and another clamp. So this fat injector, caltalyic converter, seal, and a clamp. 4 trips to dealer and 4k miles. Out of 4K miles dealer put 500 test driving it after repairs

It is crappy. The clamp I am told I need isn’t even made yet and no estimated time. For me it’s passenger side under warmth by passenger door where it mates. Same fox. Tape and a clamp because theirs is inferior. 84673544is the new part number don’t use old part number 84283544 according to a Chevy dealer parts person I spoke with. Who knows anymore. How these automanafacturers are surviving right now is beyond me. How is this so hush and no one complaining. We all know why we can’t get parts. It’s just crappy a dealer can put 500 miles on your truck.

I've had it now for a little over a week. They did have to tear the exhaust out from the header back. Hopefully that fixed the problem. We shall see.
I hope it works for you. Please update the rest of us whom are battling this issue.

Where does your truck stand today? Fixed? Mine is still at dealership awaiting the clamp

Still waiting on the clamp. They did offer a rental to have the truck sit at the lot but they also told me the rental had a limit and that they didn’t foresee the clamp issuing before that time. They then started telling me of the cars they have had on their lots for months because of Brandon’s forced gas vehicle parts shortage. Which means I would have had to pay for rental out of pocket until they decided to fix the issue they know about but don’t know how to fix. I explained how disgustingly unacceptable this is and that they needed to authorize me to drive my own truck with voiding my warranty for driving with a check engine light. They got with their people and authorized it since it’s an emissions problem. They said I am in queue for this clamp. But reading this thread I wonder if with every fix the smoke just goes to another “leak” almost as if GM has been paid to make sure electric cars are pushed further. But that can’t be true. There’s no way a company can afford this. 🤔 what’s even more sad is that all of us suffering from this have no recourse. The laws in most states are written to benefit the auto manufactures as I suffered from that for two years as well. No matter what I would say that all I can do is pray my 73k black widow isn’t shit down sue to a design flaw. Then ask how they can produce the next line in 2022 and 2023 with the flaws of the previous design. Just typing that should peeve most.

And I am still awaiting the clamp.

Mine is doing the same thing after 9k miles. Already been into the dealership once and they said they fixed it, 2 weeks later light came back on with same emailed message about emissions problem. Thinking very hard about trading it in....

The loss you will take on that will be bad. Only reason I still have mine. I am looking into Maryland Lemon Laws now

Keep in mind that anything you get right now they can use society as a reason for not being able to help you if you should ever need parts. If you comb the internet for each truck you would otherwise go with they all seem to have issues. It’s just a matter of will you win the bet that you don’t have issues with yours. I have a coworker who just bought that 70th anniversary corvette. Someone nailed him from behind with not enough insurance to cover. If he sues he could lose because that person doesn’t have anything. But the parts won’t be manufactured as Chevy told them they only have enough to finish their builds. No extra parts for him. So his 140k car now sits in limbo, his rental ran out and he makes a payment for a car sitting on a lot. All crazy.

Hopefully this works for you. It took me two years to settle and I walked away. Can’t really discuss particulars since I was forced to sign I wouldn’t. But really think of other ways before choosing this route. And read my last comment about the grass being “greener” that grass could be fake with current economic impacts and unavailability of parts. I read yesterday fords electric truck went up 7k due to part shortages as well.
