Ah ok. Well that’s boring. Was thinking the seats may fold down or something. Thanks

Until I had kids, I could never figure out what the hell those little metal U-anchors in between the seat cushions were for. Same goes for the random bits of metal behind the tops of rear seats and the anchors built into the backs of rear seats. I always thought they were just useless anchors. Then I bought a car seat and the world became a bit clearer.

I still don't know how to use them. I rode around on the back speaker deck or on the wheel well of a pickup bed in the 50/60's. All but one of my kids weren't required, but was encouraged to ride in a car seat. The last kid, all we had to use was a lap belt. That was easy, but not really secure.

Now I think the kids are strapped in with a 6 point safety harness.

I think I recall the infant/newborn configuration of our car seats was in fact a 5 point harness and the seat itself had three tie downs to the vehicle seat frame.

They are a bit complicated and pain in the ass use. The strap for the car seat feeds though the strap. then you have to hook it to the metal piece in located in the center seat. There’s a section in the manual that shows the rout it takes
