Hello everyone. Was hoping to join the forum and start reading up on all the must have mods like I have for my other vehicles but with just over 600 miles on the new AT4 I am learning how GM provides support versus another automaker that I had to deal with previously that did everything right but so far not the least impressed with the engine or them. Ran it just long enough to get a cover added and now I wait.

Hoping to have a different story soon but so far just a runaround. Anyone here have a good outcome after an early failure?

Wow. I feel bad for you. 600 miles and it lays down on you. A person should feel like they can go anywhere in a new vehicle for quite some time.

Did the engine just die or did it start knocking and lock-up?

Thanks. Yeah we were actually heading out of town for vacation for the first longer trip but thankfully it went about 20 miles from home. It started whining and ticking right before it died so not much warning. The dealer it was towed to has 3 with 6.2 issues so it seems 2023 might be another one of those years based on the other posts I am reading on here.

This just showed up in my subscriptions...

Hi
Yes my 23 AT4 with 4500 miles spun the crank shaft bearings on my first road trip . The truck was down for 7 weeks . In that time they replaced the engine but the second engine was damaged when shipped but installed anyway but had to be removed for a third engine. That happen in may got truck back end of June . Summited claim to GM in June just received buyback/ cash and keep response .

Sorry man that sounds horrible especially needing to have the third engine to get it right. How many miles on the new engine and have you made a decision to keep it or not? Mine has the new engine coming so we will how long it takes but the attorney already explained the buyback/keep settlement path that seems to be their standard business practice now instead of quality control up front.

I have just over 9000 miles on the truck , about 4000 miles on new engine.
Yea not sure which way I’m going , the hard part is they don’t offer that color anymore . It seems to drive good and I tried to push it a little. The dealer did better than Mexico LOL.
I have tried not to put a lot of miles , they take off a dollar a mile by the way for use. I still have some trust issues with it, but truck is still pretty cool to drive. I had a 2002 2500 crew cab with 220,000 miles with the 8.1 liter engine, never had an issue.
It got stolen.

Well at 651 miles the offer might be too good to pass up when I get it back. Good to know on the miles so thanks for sharing and I understand what you are saying as far as how nice the truck is. I also have an uncommon color so I think about that as well. Yours is a good looking color that’s for sure.

For me the biggest issue is what feels like complacency from GM every step of the way but I’m still hopeful they will surprise me at some point.

This is so disturbing to hear on a brand new truck. GM should be raising the roof to find the problems and not taking their sweet time replacing these engines. I feel like I bought a hand grenade literally. My 2023 AT4X truck only has 3,049 miles on it and its taken me 7 1/2 months to get that many miles on it. I did change the oil in it first time at 1500 miles and did it myself using the ACdelco oil filter and the Dexos 0w20 Mobil1 oil I put in it. No way I was waiting until 7500 miles to change it with the known lifter issues these things have. I have made one long trip in it which was 965 miles round trip and it did great. Got 17 mpg average with a 425 lb sport bike motorcycle in the bed the whole trip. I ran it around 70-75 mph to keep the mileage up.

I understand your worry for obvious reasons, especially after hearing today how many engines are being shipped to dealers and are back ordered. That being said hopefully the odds are in your favor since they can’t really have that many bad ones can they?

I have almost 24k on my '22 6.2 AT4 and the new '23 has that same engine, but I haven't taken it home yet as I am waiting for tires and paint/glass treatment. I never had any engine issues at all, and this is my 3rd 6.2 in the last few years, with all of them having between 15k and 25k on them when traded in. This news of engine failures makes me nervous as I had planned on maybe keeping this one longer. Hmmm.
