Good morning. Brand new member here. I have had my ‘22 1500 for about 6 weeks now and need a winch like yesterday. I work alone in off-road locations with gumbo mud and red clay. I have had a winch on all my trucks for the past 20 years and need one on this one.

I have done a lot of internet searching and talked with a couple of truck shops in my area and it seems no one is making a winch tray for the 1500 yet. I have orders a Westin grill guard assuming that they will make a tray to go with it eventually.

I considered going the 2” receiver way but no one makes one of those either and I don’t want to make one.

Has anyone had any luck with another year model retrofit part?

Thanks!

Hey James, not sure they are available yet but the new AT4X “AEV” trim has an integrated winch in the replacement front bumper. A few articles I read said that GMC will eventually sell the parts separate so that you can upgrade your AT4 will the parts a la carte. Might be worth contacting dealer or AEV to get an update on availability and pricing. Here’s a link so you can see the look, pretty sweet set up if winch is needed.

Thanks and good luck!

Thanks! Those do look great. AEV bumpers have always been the best looking. I would put them on the wife’s JK if I could justify it.
Someone is now making a hidden winch for the ‘22 3/4 ton, so maybe I should just want a few months and see what happens.

Decided to go ahead with a receiver mount. Waiting on a Warn VR Evo 10-S to arrive.
I will only have use on the rear for now but hopefully I don’t need it at all!

Made a mount using what I had at hand. May improve on it later. Used the factory drain holes to bolt it down.
The ‘feet’ on the carrier are just right to clear and fit in the bed channels and it slides the length of the bed easily.

Decided to try out my winch setup today. This is just for the front; the rear will use the factory receiver.

I was expecting it would twist around and upside down when it gets some tension on it, so I tightened it up slowly til it cleared the ground, keeping one hand on a handle. It did not twist much and once it is clear of the ground, it shouldn't matter if it gets upside down.

Made the orange piece from a receiver extension that I drilled a hole in oriented opposite of the factory one.
Should work out fine, probably be a long time before it gets truly field tested.

I think I will eventually make a bar for it that will attach to the two factory points via shackles and keep the winch from wanting to flip at all.
